My idea of our Marching Band's Drum Major, a senior and my friend, Ricky, as a anthro wolf. This is a gift for him at the end of the year (he hasn't seen it yet) for his graduation later in June of 2008.
(Hopefully he won't see it on here...)
Ricky is kind of shy, which ironic becuase he's the Drum Major. I like him, and although quiet, he's a very kind person and likeable human being.
He's one hell of a Drum Major at that! At Band Camp during the last weeks of summer, he was brutal with marching drills! I still have the commands in my head. Some of them are on the page. They usually begin with "DETAIL..." And so forth.
He also critisizes the Trumpets on EVERYTHING they do, so I put that quote in there as a joke to him. :XD:

The rest of the Band wants me to draw THEM as animals. Brian, another friend of mine (well, the entire band are my firends, so yeah...) wants me to draw him as an iguana. Oi.

This is also the first time I used markers for a coloring job. Critique? It was hard to do, because I'm so used to colored pencils. However, for a first attempt at doing so, I thought it turned our relatively well. ^^;

So, here's to a great Drum Major. Congrats Ricky!

Edit: Ricky has a beard, so that hair on his chin is his beard. He has Barbossa's style of beard...

(Also, I've been chosen as a cantidate to be Drum Major my senior year, so I'm exitied...)

I was standing in the park wondering why frizbees got bigger as they got closer. Then, it hit me.
Ricky looks great! The glasses, goate and hairdo works together great, though you should outline the beard part. It looks a little out of place here for some reason...

I like the job with the markers, what sort did you use?

Outlining the beard was a tough choice, becuase I based it off of his real life hair. So, I'm going to leave it un-outlined. Thanks for the idea though, Kelev. :D

I used Rose Art markers. My dad gave 'em to me for my birthday back in February, and I just pulled them out since then. I'm going to use them more often.

Oh no, I'm sorry. They're not Rose Art. They're called "Artisit markers", and my dad gave me a whole set. Sorry. ^^;

Hey; neat! A fellow bandie! Flutist here, too.

Ah, band camp...those long morning/evening hours straining the muscles just for 7 minutes of fame...
(Well, okay, I'm transferring back into band next semester, but...whatever.)

Anyhow, great picture! Lots of personality there. :)

that's cool. both of my drum majors play clarinet. Did you go to state this year? We did and WE GOT A ONE!!!!! but what was so cool was the judges made a mistake and we thought we had a two. we got on the busses ready to leave, and our director Mr. Roemer gets on the buss and says, "Everybody off the buss. We have a problem and we're not leaving until we fix it." We were freaked. Then he tells our drum major to call us to attention then says, "The judges made a mistake. You got a one! You are a superior band!!!!" We freaked. everyone was jumping up and down, the seniors crying, it was awesome. then we stopped at mcdonalds on our way home. lol. We worked so hard this year. we learned our entire drill in 4 days. we are so happy. hope you guys are a good band. :) (sorry if it seems as if i'm bragging. i don't like braggy people. wow. i typed a lot. ooops.)

No problem. Our Band had a similar experance. We were at our compition of UMASS Band Day this year. It was about...er...200 High School Bands from throughout the East Coast to compete who was "best in show" for that year. We played during a halftime show for football when the University director screwed up the beat. It was funny, but we pulled through. Our Band was awarded for its "ability to march in line correctly and that we were a superior band for the compititon." It was awesome. So, yeah, I guess bands go through that alot. ^^

Another fellow band member! How cool. I always liked the flute, however I play the clarinet. XD

I love band camp. Although "painful" to a degree, ever so enjoyable. You guys onlt have band one semester? We have it for the whole year, and when Ricky here leads us, it's like a dictatorship. XD

Thanks. :D

Ha! You guys are lucky. Flutes have to keep our instruments up and waaay to the side until our arm muscles are completely dead. But drums are really cool, though -- one of my former friends is in it.
We should form our own dA marching band. :P

Ugh; I hated it. But probably because I live in such a hot and sweaty state (KS).
(Okay; full story: I signed up for marching band last year, but during the first week, I discovered that I really wouldn't have time for it. I wasn't being lazy or anything; I just wouldn't be able to fit it in around all my school work, clubs, etc. It takes up so much time for the students (about 3 or so hours every other day) and is so strenuous. However, I'm rejoining band again after marching season is over. I shan't give up!)

You're very welcome! :)
